There’s not a lot of time for days off as Red Star revs up for the coming season – but Tuesday might give our assistant coach Jyrki Aho a brief day of respite. The Finnish expert, who is also in charge of China’s national team, celebrates his 44th birthday as our guys gear up for the start of the KHL season. Ahead of the party, we grabbed a quick chat with the birthday boy to find out about one of the most intriguing milestones of his life in hockey.

This year, Red Star gathered in Riga to prepare for its third KHL campaign. Our players arrived in the Latvian capital from all over the world in time for the annual two-day medical checks, plus team-building activities and the first pre-season camp of the year.

In the early morning of January 15th Beijing time, the regular season of 2017-2018 CWHL(Canadian Women Hockey League) started a game once again. Carpenter who new joined the team scoring a hat-trick, Stark scored two goals and Chinese beauty Wang Yuting was the icing on the cake. Kunlun Red Star 6-0 defeated Toronto Furies and Won 11 straight games. Kunlun Red Star accumulated 26 points with 13 wins and 4 losses with 17 games and was second in the league.

The regular season of 2017-2018 CWHL(Canadian Women Hockey League) season continued on January 14, Beijing time. Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star on the road against Toronto Furies. The game, Alexandra Carpenter(Bobby Carpenter’s daughter) scored her first goal. Lyons added another in the third quarter. Kunlun Red Star 2-0 defeated Toronto Furies and Won 10 straight games.

It’s the middle of the CWHL race on January 14, Beijing time. Shenzhen Vanke Rays team was a guest at the Thornhill Community Centre to fight with Markham Thunder. Vanke Rays was drawn by Markham Thunder and lost penalty kicks from their previous match. Facing longtime rival, Vanke Rays didn’t play well at the first section. Chinese team members Hou Yue, Webster and Woods all made a greater contribution, but Vanke Rays still lost the match by 3-6. Now Vanke Rays accumulated twenty one points with ten wins and four losses and was fourth in the league. No.5 Thunder got 19 points with this victory and followed closely by Vanke Rays.

Shenzhen Vanke Rays team encountered“black three minutes” in the leading case of 3-1,4-2 away from home. On December 20 (Beijing Time), CWHL of 2017-2018 season regularly continued. Shenzhen Vanke Rays launched a challenge to Boston Blades again at home. In the match, Blake Luke seized the opportunity to score the first goal in the second quarter.In third quarter Gianni and Bonton scored two goals in a minute. Finally, Vanke beat Blades 3-0 back to back, gaining the 10th win of this season.
