Kunlun Red Star Сhairman Billy Ngok and GM Nikolai Feoktistov joined leading figures in Chinese and Russian hockey for a discussion about the development of sporting ties between the two countries. The meeting, which took place on July 27, is part of a collaboration between the Chinese Ice Hockey Association (CIHA) and the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) that dates back to 2016.
China was represented by Ni Huizhong, director of China’s Winter Sports Management Center, the directors of the CIHA and other individuals responsible for preparing the national ice hockey teams for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. They were joined by FHR vice-president Roman Rotenberg, acting director Dmitry Kurbatov and his deputies Alexander Kiknadze and Alexei Kireyev.
Both sides shared their thoughts on the future progress of the hockey partnership between Russia and China, in particular the development of young players. The Chinese representatives also described their plans for the final preparations for the upcoming Beijing Winter Games.
Both sides acknowledged that our club is playing a vital role in those preparations, in which it will provide the foundations of China’s men’s and women’s Olympic teams.
