Kunlun Red Star is excited to confirm the signing of popular forward Wojtek Wolski, who recently left Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Wolski has signed a deal until the end of next season.
The Canadian forward, now 32, is a well-known figure in these parts. Last season he came to Red Star and produced an impressive 28 (7+21) points in 32 games. That confirmed his recovery from a broken neck sustained during his earlier spell with Metallurg and earned the forward a call-up to Canada’s Olympic roster in PyeongChang. In Korea, Wolski helped Canada take bronze; on his return to the KHL, he was back in Magnitogorsk for the team’s playoff campaign.
Wolski’s sudden departure from Metallurg last week was a major surprise. He was producing good form, with 15 (6+9) points in 18 games. However, the Magnitogorsk club needed to recruit another center and after identifying Czech forward Michal Bulir, it had to lose an import. Metallurg’s loss is very much our gain – welcome back to China, Wojtek Wolski!
